Who are we?

The Lancaster Go Club is an affiliated American Go Association chapter. It was founded in 1995 by Sam Zimmerman and Chuck Robbins. They had been attending the Carlisle Go Club about an hour east, but decided to join forces in the Lancaster area. The club averages about 4 players a week, from 5 dan down to beginners (who are always welcome), and from age 10 to wizened. If you're new to the game, we have people that would love to teach. If you're an old hand, we're always ready to learn.

What is Go?

Go is a game of strategy played between two players. Opponents alternate placing black and white stones on a 19x19 gridded board in an effort to gain territory. It's rules are simple, but the resulting complexity is both beautiful and a challenge to master. Please check out the "Online Go Information" section on our Go Resources page for links to more extensive information.
